Celebrating the Lunar New Year in Sioux Falls
e Much like German Fest, Irish Fest and Norfest in Sioux Falls, Lunar Fest's main goal is to showcase the ethnic diversity of our proud city.
Lunar Fest is a free and open to the public annual event to celebrate the coming of the Asian Lunar New Year in Sioux Falls. In the United States, many ethnic groups celebrate the Lunar New Year including Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Malaysian, Taiwanese, Laotian, Indonesian and many other. Our vision is to see Sioux Falls and surrounding communities prosper in ethnic harmonies. Our mission is to promote the growth of diversity in our beloved city and state. We want to share our beautiful culture with a goal of enhancing understanding and uniting many diverse ethnic groups living and thriving in Sioux Falls.
In addition to a variety of traditional ethnic food items available, the festival will also have many types of entertainment including cultural dances, Lion dance, Martial arts demonstration, traditional music, traditional attire fashion show, live music and many other forms of cultural entertainment. The festival is in its 4th year at the Active Generations Center.
We want to especially thank the Active Generations (a 501(c)(3) organization) and Wells Fargo Bank for being our partner and proud sponsor for this event. We also want to thank all the volunteers in the community for making this event such a success year after year. Finally, we want to give a warm thank you to all of the businesses, families and individuals who have contributed their time, talent and financial resources to keep this event free for everyone.
